Manifest

Where the epic becomes experience
The Mahābhārata is not a story about the past. It is a story about pressure — the pressure of choice. Born in Bhārata-varṣa, where history was inseparable from eternity, the Mahābhārata emerged in a culture that saw human life as part of a larger cosmic order.

Mahābhārata: Gods & Heroes does not explain the epic or reduce it to lessons. It offers an entry into a living universe, where meaning is carried not only by words, but by images, rhythm, pauses, and silence. The graphic form here is not a shortcut, but a language — one that allows complex ideas to be felt before they are fully understood.

About

Mahabharata: Gods & Heroes is a full-colour graphic novel series that retells India's greatest epic. Book 1, Amba's Curse, follows Princess Amba — carried off by Bhishma from her swayamvara, rejected by the king she loved, and left with nowhere to belong. Her vow of revenge outlives a lifetime and becomes one of the hidden causes of the Kurukshetra war. Based on Vyasa's Mahabharata and drawn by Igor Baranko, this Indian mythology comic brings Bhishma, Amba and the Kuru dynasty to life on 152 pages of A4 hardcover art. Order in India with free delivery in 2–3 days, or find it on Amazon worldwide.

Today, Mahābhārata: Gods & Heroes is more than a book. It is unfolding as a multi-level project, including a digital application and upcoming immersive exhibitions where the epic can be entered through image, sound, and movement.

The project was initiated and produced by Swami Avadhut, a spiritual master and philosopher whose work over decades has included immersive exhibitions, festivals, literary projects, and spiritual spaces across different cultures. His guiding conviction is simple: spiritual knowledge is not something to consume, but something to live.
